Waterproof Zippers

Waterproof zippers are designed to 100% prevent water from penetrating the exposed surface of the zipper. Our zipper combines the technology used in others zippers with an innovative seal between the elements allowing for a highly flexible and easy operation with perfect protection for the elements above or below the water. These waterproof zippers are 100% pressure tested during the production process, ensuring that each zipper arrives fully capable of functioning to the prospective pressure specifications.

A Waterproof Zipper made of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is designed to provide high water resistance and prevent water from seeping through the zipper teeth. TPU is a flexible and durable material that is commonly used in waterproof and airtight applications.

The pressure at which a waterproof zipper made of TPU can effectively operate depends on the specific design and construction of the zipper. In general, waterproof zippers can withstand moderate water pressure, such as that experienced during rain or light water splashes. However, they may not be suitable for extreme water pressure, such as submersion at great depths or high-pressure water activities.

It’s important to note that waterproof zippers are different from airtight zippers. While both types of zippers aim to create a barrier, their primary purpose and functionality differ:

Waterproof zippers: These zippers are primarily designed to prevent water penetration. They are commonly used in outdoor gear like rain jackets, dry bags, and waterproof pouches. Waterproof zippers usually have sealed or laminated tape, welded seams, and specialized teeth or coatings that repel water.

Airtight zippers: These zippers focus on creating an airtight seal rather than being waterproof. They are often used in applications where the exclusion of air or gases is necessary, such as in vacuum-sealed storage bags or airtight containers. Airtight zippers are designed to prevent the exchange of air between the inside and outside of a sealed environment.

The key difference lies in the level of sealing and the intended purpose. Waterproof zippers prioritize water resistance, while airtight zippers prioritize maintaining an airtight environment. It’s essential to select the appropriate type of zipper based on the specific requirements of the application to ensure optimal performance.
